Supermarine Spitfire MkIX – MK912

MK914 was delivered to the RAF in 1944 and would soon find herself in the hands of 312 Czech Squadron operating from RAF Appledram, West Sussex. She would be busy on the week of the 6th June as flew sorties protecting the Allied invasion fleets over Normandy for the D-Day landings, and would then become one of the first Spitfires to land on a temporary airfield in Normandy.

Post war she spent some time in service with both the Royal Netherlands Air Force and the Belgian Air Force, before becoming a gate guardian at the Belgian Air Force Technical school in Saffraenburg after an incident.

She was restored to flying condition in 2024 at Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar and is now owned and flown by Lilham Aviation.
