North American P-51D Mustang – Moonbeam McSwine – G-MCSW

G-MCSW has quite the varied history. Built in 1944 and joining the 8th Air Force in March 1945 stationed in the UK, the war came to an end before she could see much action so was shipped back to the states a few months later where she flew with the US Air Force until 1956 before being sold as surplus. In 1968 she found herself in the hands of the El Salvador Airforce and few in the conflict with Honduras until 1974. She was then restored back to her WW2 Moonbeam McSwine scheme in 1975 and flew in the USAF Heritage Flight program from 1981. After this she starred in the famous Reno Air Races in 1997, 1999 and 2000 before being sold a few times and ending up with the Spitfire company in 2024 where she resides today.
