Westland Lysander – V9552

Originally built for the RAF, V9552 was instead sent to Canada for Target Tug duties and spent the war within this role. She was sold to a Canadian collector post war before being sold on again in 1971 to the Strathallan Collection in Scotland where it was restored back to flying condition by 1979. Grounded and stored a few years later, she ended up moving to Duxford where in 1997 she was restored to airworthiness again and being purchased the the Shuttleworth Veteran Aeroplane Society. She was painted in her now all black Special Duties scheme of 161 Squadron taking part in Night Flying Operations dropping SOE Agents into France.
